Occultation by the Jovian satellite Ganymede on the 14th of October 2025
In the morning of October 14th 2025 the Jovian satellite Ganymede will occult a 7th mag star for large parts of Europe.
Ganymede is the main goal of the European Juice mission. After a few years’ tour around Jupiter (2031-2034), it will ultimately orbit around Ganymede (starting on December 2034) making a large number of measurements including radar sounding, altimetry, imaging and radio-science measurements.

Valery Lainey : The stellar occultation of Oct. 14th: a unique
opportunity to test the European ephemerides of the Jovian system before the
arrival of Juice.
Josselin Desmars : Maps and data related to the forecasted event
Thierry Midavaine : The ability to measure the diameter and the shape of the
cross section of an occulted star
Arnaud Leroy : Setup configuration 10 days to be ready, preliminary test on the
targets
Tune the latency of each amateur setup for the European wide occultation chaser
community.
